So there’s this guy, right? Real smooth talker, the kind who thinks he’s mastered online dating. He’s been chatting with this gorgeous girl for a few weeks and finally lands a date.
First impressions matter, he thinks — so he wears his best shirt, slicks his hair back, even sprays on extra cologne (because… why not overpower her nose?).
Now here’s the thing — this guy has a superstition. He believes carrying a lucky frog in his jacket pocket brings him good fortune on dates.
Yeah, you heard that right — a frog.
Not a rabbit’s foot, not a lucky coin — a live, tiny frog he rescued from a pond behind his apartment.
So he slips the frog into his inside pocket, gives it a little pat, and heads off to the restaurant.
The date starts great — they’re laughing, vibing, she’s into his bad boy energy mixed with awkward good guy charm. But halfway through, the frog gets restless.
It wriggles.
It croaks.
She leans in, eyebrow raised.
“Did you just… burp?” she asks.
He panics. “Uh, yeah! Sorry. Soda!” he blurts.
The frog croaks louder.
The girl looks suspicious but shrugs it off.
Minutes later, as he leans in to pay the bill and make a suave exit, the frog leaps out of his pocket — full-on Kermit style — and lands directly in her salad.
Silence.
Forks drop.
The entire restaurant is now staring.
He’s mortified.
She looks at the frog. Looks at him.
Then she bursts out laughing — like really laughing — tears-down-her-face laughing.
Turns out, she’s a veterinarian who loves frogs. They end up spending the rest of the night talking about weird pet stories, laughing so hard they forget about dessert.
Fast forward three years — they’re now married.
At their wedding, instead of tossing the bouquet?
She tossed a frog plushie.
Moral of the story:
Sometimes the weirdest things in your pocket turn out to be the best icebreakers. 🐸❤️
